Since the coronavirus hit the U.S. in March, several major entertainment and sporting events have been rescheduled or canceled. These conditions have even impacted America’s favorite pastime. With spring training canceled, some of major league baseball’s biggest names quietly trekked down to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, this summer to train. As the secret sessions ended, one of the boys of summer decided he wanted his own piece of South Florida. Here is more on Washington National’s Max Scherzer’s Jupiter estate purchase after his Palm Beach summer.
The Baseball Training Season in Palm Beach Gardens
With players unions and team owners at odds and the pandemic still delaying the professional baseball season, some players decided to train on their own. According to reports, players such as Justin Verlander, Giancarlo Stanton, and Paul Goldschmidt, got together with approximately 30 others and held private practices in Palm Beach Gardens. This south Florida baseball training camp remained a well-kept secret this summer. One player who had been renting in West Palm Beach for years, decided it was time to buy property in Palm Beach County—Three-time Cy Young winner, and Washington National’s pitcher, Max Scherzer.
Max Scherzer’s Jupiter, Florida Real Estate Purchase
According to reports, Scherzer recently bought a breathtaking waterfront estate in Jupiter, for $9.8 million. The star player decided to make his first Palm Beach County real estate purchase in one of Jupiter Florida’s upscale gated communities. The luxurious 7,778 square foot property sits on a .72 acre lot in the exclusive Admirals Cove neighborhood. The home has five bedrooms, seven-and-a-half bathrooms, 120 feet of water frontage, a private boat dock, an outdoor pool, and a four-car garage.
Jupiter has been Home to Several Sports Celebrities
The star athlete will undoubtedly be comfortable in his new surroundings. Scherzer joins a list of several sports and other celebrities who have reportedly called Jupiter home. Former Cincinnati Reds baseball player and legend Johnny Bench once had a house there. Professional Basketball legend Michael Jordan resides in the Bear’s Club and is a co-owner of the 1000 North restaurant in Jupiter. Philadelphia Phillies Hall of Famer Mike Schmidt also lives in Admirals Cove. Golfing Pro Tiger Woods lives on nearby Jupiter Island and owns The Woods restaurant in Jupiter.
