Jimmy Buffett’s Mansion Sells in Palm Beach

Palm Beach is no stranger to famous musicians. Several well-known recording artists have lived here over the years, and today, musical icons like Jon Bon Jovi and Rod Stewart call the Town of Palm Beach home. Recently, a noted musician sold his Palm Beach estate. Jimmy Buffett, best known for his hit song “Margaritaville,” has been one of the community’s long-time residents. Here is more on the sale of Jimmy Buffett’s Mansion in Palm Beach.

Jimmy Buffett in Palm Beach

When Jimmy Buffett released Margaritaville in 1977, he had no way of knowing that the beach-themed song would become an instant hit. The classic tune is still in rotation today and has led to a Margaritaville restaurant chain, hotels, resorts, a vacation club, casinos, merchandise, and other related products and business ventures. As of 2019, Forbes estimated Buffett’s net worth at approximately $50 million and attributed most of his wealth to the Margaritaville empire’s overwhelming success. Buffett also still tours and performs with his band.

Recently the singer and his wife, Jane, sold their Palm Beach home at 309 Garden Road for $6.9 million. The couple purchased this North End property in 2011 for $5 million. The 4,783-square-foot, three-bedroom, 3.5 bath estate has been described as having “island contemporary” architecture. With mahogany framed glass doors and windows and vaulted ceilings, the home offers sunlight in every room and expansive views of its garden and pool areas. A loggia is just steps from a cobalt blue pool set amid the property’s tropical plants and fountain. The estate also features a guest suite above its two-car garage and deeded beach access at Eden road and at Via Marila.

The Buffetts have made other sales in the Town of Palm Beach. In May 2010, the couple sold their five-bedroom home at 540 S. Ocean Blvd for a recorded $18.5 million after paying $4.4 million for the property. The house was later demolished to prepare the acreage for an estate built by British insurance magnate and real estate mogul Sir Peter Wood.

The singer and his wife have owned property in the town of Palm Beach for the last several years. According to reports, the Buffetts also own other residential properties through a real estate company called Sadeca Realty, LLC. Their holdings include homes at 138 Root Trail and 135 Root Trail. The couple also owns a property in West Palm Beach.
