Life in the Agrihood - Sustainable Living in Arden

Life in the Agrihood – Sustainable Living in Arden

Just west of equestrian fields of Wellington, and not too far from fashionable West Palm Beach, there is a Palm Beach County community where life centers around farming fresh fruits and vegetables. For residents of Arden, living and working in this agrarian neighborhood or “agrihood” is ideal.  Here is more about life in the agrihood and sustainable living in Arden.

Earlier this year, the National Association of Homebuilders (NAHB) held their annual awards competition, the Nationals. Each year, at the Nationals, the NAHB presents awards on 61 categories of new home sales and marketing. The 2020 Gold Award for “Best Amenity” went to Arden. Arden was commended for its resort-style lake house and community barn amenities. Arden also received Gold Awards for Best Realtor/Broker Program for Arden 101, Best Website for a Community, and for Best Marketing Professional, Suzanne Maddalon, VP of Marketing at Freehold Communities Life. The agricultural neighborhood was also honored with a Silver Award for Best Master Planned Community.

This 2000-residential home community centers around a five-acre farm, and its 4000 square foot barn. In Arden, community members can grow and share flowers and produce from a local harvest of 30 varieties of fruit and 100 types of vegetables. There is a farm-share every four weeks inside the community barn where you can purchase honey, farm-fresh eggs, and other items from local farms. Fresh produce is available, and herbs grow outside in the community garden for residents to pick.

Arden’s residential housing includes homes by a combination of builders including, Ryan Homes, Lennar, Kenco Communities, and its most recent addition, DR Horton.  DR Horton’s Arden properties consist of 120-single-story villas, each featuring three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and an enclosed lanai. Arden also has a resort-style pool and lake house, a fitness center, and other recreational amenities. There are also yoga and fitness classes, social events, and other community offerings for residents. The community is near top-rated Wellington schools and is in close proximity to the Town of Palm Beach.

Arden offers residents a way to connect with nature meaningfully while focusing on community, health, and nutrition. Although there are classes and other opportunities to be involved with the farm, there are no requirements to become involved in farming in Arden.  For some, just being in the community is enough. For others, participating in planting and harvesting are relaxing and rewarding experiences. Those drawn to the farm-to-table lifestyle will find that Arden offers sustainable, healthy living options for everyone, opportunities to connect with nature, and the comforts of luxury design.
