Recent Commercial Real Estate News in Jupiter, Florida

Palm Beach County development projects have continued to move forward this summer at a steady pace. Recently, retail giant Amazon announced plans to build an operation site in the Jupiter area. Here is more on this and some of the other recent commercial real estate news in Jupiter, Florida.

Amazon in Jupiter

In August, Amazon, the world’s largest online retailer, announced plans to build a new fulfillment center near Jupiter. The new facility will serve as the area’s distribution site for larger items such as kayaks, mattresses, and fitness equipment. A move the company said would bring “hundreds of full-time jobs” to the surrounding area. Earlier this summer, the company started construction on a one million square foot facility in Palm Beach Park of Commerce, west of Jupiter. In October of last year, Amazon opened a 96,000 square-foot warehouse west of West Palm Beach. In February, the company plans to open a retail location in The Gardens Mall in Palm Beach Gardens. The Jupiter project is projected to finish in six to eight months.

Publix Opened an In-Hospital Pharmacy in Jupiter

Family Cancer Institute and Jupiter Medical Center recently welcomed the opening of a new Publix pharmacy. The new Publix pharmacy location will provide traditional services and medications as well as those used for patients undergoing treatment for various types of cancer at the facility. On behalf of Publix, Vice President of Pharmacy Dain Rusk stated, “We’re pleased to collaborate with Jupiter Medical Center to offer their patients access to medications they need in the same location where they receive treatment.” The new pharmacy service will provide patients with a continuity of care as they leave the hospital and return for follow-up treatment. Jupiter Medical Center Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Steve Seeley expressed that “Offering our patients the convenience of coming to Jupiter Medical Center for their cancer care treatment and easily filling their prescriptions at a trusted Publix Pharmacy located within the hospital before they go home is an important amenity,” and the medical center is “always looking for new ways we can make the patient experience more seamless, and this collaboration is one we look forward to introducing our patients and their families to.”

The Maltz Jupiter Theatre is Getting Ready for an Expansion Project

With the house lights down and the previous season postponed, the Maltz Jupiter Theatre has decided to move forward with a $30 million expansion. The plan is to build a Broadway-level stage and production theatre that can accommodate 617 guests. The project’s first phase began during summer 2019, and the second was supposed to start in April 2021.  However, the coronavirus pandemic has stopped most shows from happening, and the non-profit decided to use temporary hiatus to expedite phase two of the project.

Producing Artistic Director and CEO Andrew Kato said in a recent article, “[a]s Broadway and regional theaters across the country remain closed through the foreseeable future, it became clear that, with proper planning, our organization could make use of this downtime to make the improvements to the building we have contemplated as part of our strategic plan.” “Completing the work now will ensure that we can come back stronger than ever when we reopen, and this expansion is bringing us even closer to reaching our goals of producing the next Broadway-bound play or musical right here in South Florida.”

The project is anticipated to take around thirteen months. It will include a three-floor production facility, a redesigned entrance, an expanded conservatory and lobby, and a 199-seat second theater. The expansion is expected to create approximately 100 jobs, and the theatre believes it can save between $3 and $4 million by completing the next two phases together.
